Unpaid debt, a bounced cheque or a loan default can lead to a financial case circular. In Dubai you can check this yourself on the Dubai Police service called Circulars and Travel Bans.

UAE travel bans, in brief.
A UAE travel ban is a restriction placed on a person by a police, prosecution, court, immigration or labour authority. There are five types, each issued by a different authority, and no single check or national register covers them all.

The five types of travel ban.
Clearing one type tells you nothing about the others. Four of the five can stop a person at the airport.

GDRFA is the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. ICP is the federal authority that handles immigration in the other emirates. MOHRE is the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah have no documented public self-check like Dubai Police or Estafser. Enquire through the local police or public prosecution. Applying for the Police Clearance Certificate in person at a service centre adds AED 100, and fees are non-refundable.

How a ban is lifted, and the fees.
Each ban is lifted by the authority that issued it. The common precondition is that fines are paid and no other restriction is outstanding.

These are government fees as published. The authority or court decides whether a ban is lifted, and we cannot promise that outcome. The Ministry of Justice covers the federal courts in Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah run their own courts and their own equivalent services.

Treating a Dubai Police result as an all-clear
The Dubai Police service covers financial cases in the Emirate of Dubai only. A civil court ban, an immigration ban or a matter in another emirate will not appear.
Expecting to be told about a court ban
A court can issue a travel ban without notifying the debtor, because the order is precautionary and urgent. Many debtors first learn of it at the immigration counter.
Trying to cancel your own court ban
The Ministry of Justice cancellation service is for the creditor in whose favour the ban was issued. A debtor must settle the debt and have the creditor apply, or challenge the ban through the court.
Checking days before the flight
An absconding report or a court ban takes time to clear and needs the other side's cooperation. Lifting one circular while another still stands achieves nothing.

If you want broader comfort and need the document anyway, apply for the certificate, as a refusal means something is on file.

How do I check if I have a travel ban in the UAE?
There is no single check. Start with the free Dubai Police service called Circulars and Travel Bans using your UAE PASS, use Estafser for Abu Dhabi prosecution matters, and check your immigration file with GDRFA in Dubai or ICP in the other emirates.
Is the Dubai Police travel ban check free?
Yes. The Dubai Police Circulars and Travel Bans service is free of charge and the result is instant. It needs a UAE PASS sign-in and covers financial cases in the Emirate of Dubai only.
Can someone else check a UAE travel ban for me?
No. Every check needs the person's own UAE PASS or unified number and returns only matters registered against that person. My Eloah Business Hub can guide you through each check while you sign in yourself.
Does a clean Dubai Police check mean I can travel?
No. It shows only financial cases in Dubai. A civil court ban, an immigration ban or a matter in another emirate will not appear on it.
Can a court impose a travel ban without telling me?
Yes. A creditor can petition the court, and the order can be issued without notifying the debtor because it is precautionary and urgent. This type of ban is not shown on any self-service check.
How is a court travel ban lifted in the UAE?
The creditor applies to cancel it. In the federal courts the Ministry of Justice cancellation request costs AED 300 and is listed as a 2-day service, and it is open only to the party in whose favour the ban was issued. A debtor must settle the debt and have the creditor apply, or challenge the ban through the court.
How much does it cost to lift an immigration ban?
With ICP the published fee is AED 1,000 for an individual file or AED 2,000 for a company file, plus AED 100 application and AED 100 smart service fees. Fines must be paid and no other restriction can be outstanding.
Does a labour ban stop me leaving the UAE?
Usually not. A labour ban from MOHRE is tied to the work permit and blocks re-employment. Treat MOHRE and immigration as separate checks.
