Who Can Help You Open a Business Bank Account in Dubai, UAE?

Compare who can help open a business bank account in Dubai: bank, freezone agent or consultant. What to check, documents needed, fees from AED 1,200.

Three kinds of people can help you open a UAE business bank account: the bank’s own team, your freezone or company setup provider, and an independent banking consultant. All of them need your company to hold a UAE trade licence already. A consultant prepares and submits a complete file, but the bank alone decides.

Who this is for

This guide is for founders and directors of a company that already holds a UAE trade licence (mainland or freezone) and now needs a corporate bank account. It also suits owners who were rejected or are unsure which bank fits their activity.

It is not for you if:

  • You do not have a licence yet. A bank cannot assess a company that does not exist, so start with company formation. We can help with that first, and the bank account follows.
  • You want help with a personal account, a personal loan, a credit card balance or personal debt. We advise licensed UAE companies only.
  • You are only comparing prices with no plan to proceed. We are glad to explain how it works, but our time goes to companies that are ready to apply.

The four places you can ask for help

Option Usually best for Watch out for
The bank’s branch or relationship team Simple, low-risk companies with clean documents and a clear activity They can only advise on their own bank, so you will not learn whether another bank suits you better
Your freezone or setup provider Basic introductions right after formation Banking is often a side service, so ask what happens if the first bank declines
Your accountant or PRO Bookkeeping and filings you already outsource Account opening is a different skill from accounting; ask how often they handle KYC reviews
An independent banking consultant Non-resident owners, niche activities, mixed nationalities, previous rejections, tight timelines Anyone who promises approval. No consultant controls the bank’s decision

Banks in the UAE follow customer due diligence and anti-money-laundering rules set by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE). Each bank then applies its own risk appetite on top. That is why the same company can be accepted by one bank and declined by another.

What a banking consultant actually does

A good consultant does not "push" your application. They make it complete, consistent and well matched to the right bank. Our own process runs in five steps:

  1. Review of your licence. You share the trade licence (the MOA or board resolution is optional at this point). We prepare a banking consulting report with a risk rating, suitable banks, a document checklist and our fee.
  2. KYC onboarding review. You send the full KYC set: passports, visas, Emirates IDs, personal bank statements, address proof and CVs. We check it for gaps before anything is submitted.
  3. Sanctions screening. Every shareholder, director and ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) is screened before submission, so surprises do not appear after you apply.
  4. Application preparation. The account-opening form and the bank’s application are prepared with you, using only information from your documents. You review every entry and confirm before anything is submitted.
  5. Follow-up. If the bank raises compliance questions, we help draft clear, factual responses.

We stop before every irreversible step (submit, pay, sign) and wait for your confirmation. We never ask for your passwords, and one-time passwords (OTPs) stay with you.

Document mistakes that cost the most time

Most delays come from the file, not the bank. Check these before you apply:

  • Passports need at least 6 months’ validity.
  • Emirates ID: front and back in one file, front first. A missing back page is a very common rejection reason.
  • Bank statements: bank-stamped, one PDF, in date order, with every month present. Screenshots and app exports are usually refused.
  • Colour copies that are clear and legible. Blurry or black-and-white scans may be rejected.
  • Translations: documents not in Arabic or English need an official translation.
  • Content: documents can be split, merged or compressed, but their content must never be edited.

The bank may also ask to see originals at an in-person meeting.

Be ready to explain the business and the money

Banks want a clear picture of what the company does and where the funds come from. A few habits help:

  • Describe the activity specifically. "General Trading" alone is vague; name the goods you sell and who buys them.
  • Keep expected turnover realistic. Very low or very high figures both trigger questions, and transaction count multiplied by average value should match your monthly turnover.
  • List the UAE first, then only the 3 to 5 markets that are genuinely involved.
  • Enter a website only if it is real. Otherwise leave it blank or write "In development".
  • Explain gaps in income truthfully and support them with documents, such as savings from previous employment or overseas statements.
  • Disclose any earlier rejection or account closure. Hiding it usually makes things worse.

Special cases: non-residents, freezones and niche activities

If an owner lives abroad, ask the bank about video KYC before arranging a certified passport copy. It may save weeks of effort. Freezone companies should expect questions about where customers and suppliers are, and about their corporate tax position. Corporate tax rules are published by the Federal Tax Authority.

Some activities, such as gold or bullion trading, structured companies or businesses with non-UAE-national partners, suit only a narrow set of banks. A consultant who knows these limits can save you an application that was never going to work.

How to choose a consultant: seven questions to ask

  1. Do you have a real office I can visit, and can I meet a named person?
  2. Have you handled my licence activity and my owners’ nationalities before?
  3. Will you tell me honestly if my company is unlikely to be accepted?
  4. Do you screen all shareholders and UBOs before submitting?
  5. What exactly does your fee cover, and what does it not cover?
  6. What happens if the first bank declines? Is a resubmission quoted separately?
  7. Do you ever ask for my passwords or OTPs? (The answer must be no.)

Walk away from anyone who promises approval or a fixed opening date, suggests inventing suppliers or income, or offers to edit a document. Approval depends on the bank’s internal compliance review, and timelines can only be indicative.

What business bank account help costs

Our business bank account service starts from AED 1,200. The final fee is shown in the consulting report in step 1 above, once we have seen your licence and activity.

Our fee covers consultation and facilitation. It is not a bank fee. The bank’s own charges, such as opening fees, initial deposit, minimum balance and monthly fees, are paid directly to the bank under its schedule of charges. Applying to two banks at the same time may be quoted separately, and if a resubmission to another bank is needed, you receive a revised quote.

FAQs

Who can help me open a business bank account in Dubai?

You can ask the bank’s own team, your freezone or setup provider, your accountant, or an independent banking consultant. Your company must already hold a UAE trade licence. The more complex your case (non-resident owners, niche activity, a past rejection), the more an independent consultant tends to help.

Can I open a business account without a trade licence?

Generally no. UAE banks open corporate accounts for licensed companies. If you do not have a licence yet, form the company first, then apply for the account.

How much does business bank account opening assistance cost?

Our service starts from AED 1,200, and the final fee is confirmed in your consulting report after we review your licence. The bank’s own charges are separate and paid directly to the bank.

Does using a consultant mean my account will be approved?

No. Approval is not guaranteed, because every bank decides after its own compliance review. A consultant improves the quality and consistency of your file and follows up with the bank, but cannot control the outcome.

Can a non-resident company owner open a UAE business account?

It can be possible, depending on the company, the activity and the bank. Ask the bank about video KYC before arranging certified passport copies, and expect extra questions about source of funds and the business model.

What if my application was rejected before?

Disclose it. Banks can often see prior history, and a hidden rejection damages trust. We review why it happened, fix the file where the issue is fixable and match you to a bank that suits your profile.
